On Tuesday, I saw goldfinch at my feeders for the first time since
October. There were ten of them on the lone feeder (platform) on the
south side of my house. Some of the three dozen plus Evening Grosbeaks
that haunt my acerage were vying for the space, so after dark, I changed
the platform for a finch feeder full of thistle and shelled sunflower
seeds.

On Wednesday, the goldfinch there were joined by pine siskins--on the
feeder, waiting in the bare tree branches, the nearby bushes and even on
the roof above the feeder. I counted 30 of them at one time.
