Hello birders,
Some of you have noticed a trumpeter swan in the Snoqualmie/Snohomish
valleys area with a complete ring of missing skin/feathers several inches
long on the neck. I am aware of the bird. Thanks to people with great
cameras, I have been sent two amazing photos of the swan one from just after
Christmas and one today.
It has been in this condition since just before Christmas. Amazingly it
is still flying around. Anyone observing this swan please let me know. It
has moved from upper Snohomish valley around Elliott/Fales Road to Carnation
area.
It was likely injured from striking a powerline. There is a healing
wound on its ankle/foot as well.

If you see it let me know the location and date. If anyone finds it dead or
notices it no longer able to fly please let me know. All of us biologists
are curious to learn more about what has happened to the swan.
