Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 14. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

The Gaston HOODED ORIOLE and the EE Wilson SWA YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER
continue to be seen. The Netarts Spit SNOW OWL also continues. An apparent
PINK-SIDED DARK-EYED JUNCO has been photographed January 13 in Northeast
Portland.

Very large numbers of CALIFORNIA GULLS are being reported along the coast.
On January 11, 25,000 CALIFORNIA GULLS, 5000 HERRING GULLS and one GLAUCOUS
GULL were at Siletz Bay. Good numbers of BROWN PELICANS and some HEERMANN?S
GULLS continue to be seen.

On January 9 a TRUMPETER SWAN was at Pistol River. Two TRUMPETERS and a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR were at Flores Lake that day. On January 7 a LESSER
YELLOWLEGS and 20 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were at Coos Bay. On January 9 a
BARROW?S GOLDENEYE was at Charleston and a PRAIRIE FALCON was in Norway. On
January 9 a female BULLOCK?S ORIOLE was at a Newport feeder. That day 14
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were at Crab Harbor on Tillamook Bay. On Janaury 10
three LONG-TAILED DUCKS were on Netarts Bay. That day two TRUMPETER SWANS
were at Marshland near Clatskanie.

On January 10 a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 48 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and two
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at Ridgefield NWR. Eleven TRUMPETER SWANS were
at Ridgefield January 7. On January 8 three CINNAMON TEAL were in Scappoose
Bottoms. Three BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen after dark January 9 at
the Fernhill Wetlands. Up to 259 CANVASBACKS are now being seen at Jackson
Bottom in Hillsboro. On January 10 a TREE SPARROW and 26 BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVER were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On January 8 two RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and a SAY?S PHOEBE were at Lake
Billy Chinook. Two HARRIS?S SPARROWS were at McNary Dam January 7.
