Hi all,

My wife and I birded the Woodland Park zoo, here in Seattle. We thought we
would just go to the Nocturnal House, because we heard it was closing, but
uh, it took us 8 hours to get there.

We saw several interesting birds, many at the feeder set up at the Raptor
Center.

WHITE-THROATED SPARROW
HERMIT THRUSH
Chestnut Sided Chickadee
White Crowned Sparrow
Red Breasted Nuthatch (at feeder and elsewhere)

The White Crowned Sparrow was skulking in the feeder area and visited 3
times. We never saw it come or go. I never saw it more than 2 minutes per
visit, but it did come 3 times over the course of 80 minutes (we came past
there 4 times). It spent most of the time on the ground, but once it was on
a leafless branch for 10 seconds, right out front. On its longest visit,
there were about 40 Bushtits and 20 Black Capped Chickadees present, many
Golden Crowns, plus 3 Spotted Towhees, etc on one middling sized shrub.

All the best,

Tom
