What we thought was a female White-winged Scoter on the Edmonds
waterfront appears to be a first winter male. With today's light I
got better photos to share around with some of the other birders who
are denizens of the Edmonds waterfront. We noted some beginning
orange on the bill and what looks like it will develop into the
male's white eye patch. These field marks were not noticeable in
yesterday's darker photos. I didn't look closely at today's photos
or share them out until after I had posted this morning.
