Hi Simone and everyone,
I corresponded off-list with Henne to get some additional info about the Gyr.? He indicated that he and the other two people that saw it were only fifty feet away from it when the pictures were taken.? At that distance, one would think that leather jesses and/or a transmitter antenna would have been easily, especially since the bird was in a field with very short grass (from?knowing the?area and the post description, I suspect this was the horse ranch field that borders Sikes Lake).? Additionally the picture link in the original post doesn't show any indication of a tranmitter antenna or jesses, although the feet are just covered enough by the grass in the photo to possibly obscure them.?
Hopefully Henne and Dave T. (who was one of the other folks who saw the bird close up) will chime in about the possibility of jesses and/or a transmitter.

Hi Tweeters,
A friend is missing his male Gyrfalcon in the Skagit Valley area. If anyone sees this bird again could you please call Paul DeBruyn at 360-303-6247. The bird may appear to have leather "bracelets" on its legs or a transmitter. He has been looking for his bird for a couple weeks now so if anyone spots it and can help it would be much appreciated.
