Hi Charlie,

Hope you remembr us, we ride on the trail to South Prairie and belong to Rainier Audubon.

Our youngest granddaughter, Elizabeth is almost 11. We have taken almost all of our grandchildren out on wilderness camping and kayaking trips. Some long term successes. Almost all seem to appreciate the wild world. No specific interest in birding until now.

I was staying with Elizabeth last week and watching the hummingbird special on Channel 9. Elizabeth came quietly to sit by me and was enchanted. She wanted to know if there is ever any way a child like her has an opportunity to watch bird banding and perhaps even hold a bird in her hand for a moment. We talked a lot that evening about the hummingbirds.

I asked Carol S. at the Audubon meeting if there might be an opportunity for Elizabeth to watch banding. I have had several opportunities and it is thrilling--even to an old birder. Carol said "ask Charlie about anything going on in the local area" So I'm asking.
