This saturday I will be teaching a class on "Owls of Washington" through
Seattle Audubon at the CUH at UW, with a field trip to Bainbridge Island
Sunday morning (early!). Participants should get a close up encounter
with Barred Owls, as well as vocalizations. Northern Saw-whet Owls should
also be heard, and are frequently seen. Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl are
also possible, and Western Screech-owl and Northern Pygmy Owl are
possible. There is also a possibility of viewing a Short-eared Owl, a
difficult bird in Kitsap County for you county listers. If the group
opts, I will do a winter banding demonstration for Northern Saw-whet Owls
prior to the owling.

Procedes from the class go towards funding Barred Owl and Northern
Saw-whet Owl research.
