The website turns on my PC virus scan alarm.

A couple of years ago, a number of us Spokane birders spent a couple of weeks sloshing around in hip-deep snow chasing a reported red-bellied woodpecker sighting, complete with photos. Only the reporter/photographer ever saw the bird. Finally, one of our local birder/photographers figured out that the photos were doctored.

I, too, would be ecstatic about a confirmed ivory-billed woodpecker sighting but also counsel that healthy skepticism makes for good science.

My fingers are crossed:-) Kim
