Hey Tweeterland,

Today (thursday) between 3 and 4, I had the Swamp Sparrow at Juanita Bay Park. It was about 3/4 of the way down the gravel road (between the 2nd and 3rd phone poles) on the west side. It was with a flock of 8 Golden-crowned Sparrows and 2 Song Sparrows. They were feeding on some kind of red berries. The problem (for me) was the berries were heavily covered in brushy growth and vines, so nobody really had to come out in the open to feed. This proved helpful when an adult male Cooper's Hawk came screaming in and perched about 15 feet away. Everybody just kind of oozed into the depths of the shrubbery. It took about 5 minutes after he left for movement to start up, and another 10 before any heads popped up. They still never really came out in the open as Golden-crowns often do. No sign of any White-throated Sparrows.
