On second thought, those dudes were probably looking for Big Foot, and had to make due with the Ivory-bill as compensation.

I'm ever the optimist, when it comes to the survival of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker in this country. I just can't believe that there isn't a place for that magnificent bird.

The Sabine drainage is near the Big Thicket region, where there was also a sighting by a reliable person several years ago. So maybe there is a tiny population of them in that general area. They apparently can be wide-ranging and adaptable.
