This afternoon I observed a female Anna's Hummingbird plucking a beakfull of the white fuzzy stuff from last year's dead Japanese Anemones (that's what I think are) in our yard. She then flew away with a beakfull. Seems remarkably early for a hummer to be nesting around here.
