Last April when I headed to Othello for birds (and snow that day) I stopped at Wanapum State Park to check on an owl's nest there. No owl was using the nest but we checked the ground under the tree for pellets. We found two and later when I took mine apart I found a very small porpupine quill amongst the bones. It appeared the owl had consumed a very young possum some time in the past as the pellet was still intact but obviously had been exposed to the elements for a while.
