Hi Tweeters,
When I lived on a ranch in northern New Mexico a Great Horned Owl family made off with a 6 mo. old tiger cat that we had....
Last summer, here in Algona Heights area, "our" Barred Owl pair gave birth to 3 young and as they grew and hunted around our place we were very nervous about the safety of our current tiger cat. For over 2 months the owls were active and watched our cat who became tired of our curtailing its activities and ventured around freely. Cedric the cat is fine and we look forward to this year's "who cooks for you?" action. Perhaps Barred Owls draw the line when it comes to anything larger than a rabbit.
