Subject: [Tweeters] Help with Cormorant ID

I just returned from a visit to the San Diego area. While on the Oceanside
Pier, I encountered a slender billed Cormorant on the railing at the end of
the pier. It was extremely tame and was looking for hand-outs from the
fishermen. It had deep blue eyes and white whiskers/plumes on the
cheeks/neck; no visible color on the the throat pouch. I have checked
several of my field guides and the closest I can come, is Neotropic
Cormorant (former Olivaceous) -or- could it be a just a Brandt's? Does
anybody out there have any idea and/or experience with Southern California
cormorants? Your input will be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!
