Hi all...after reading Michael Price's piece I have to add my two cents; a
female peregrine took a drake mallard in front of my house not by hitting it
so hard (though she may have stunned it long enough to get the advantage)
but by "riding" it and biting the back of the neck to kill it. The mallard
clearly outweighed her so she dragged it to the side of the road and ate it
there....it took her 55 minutes but when she finished she could barely fly,
and all that was left were the head, wings, feet and a pair of round organs
about the size of an egg. I was grateful I live on a very quiet road. I took
photos, but it was pre-digital.
