Tweets,

A dozen enthusiastic birders met at Magnuson Park Sunday morning for an
exploration of wetlands and woods. The cast at the wetlands is becoming
predictable with Northern Shovelers, scads of American Wigeon, a single
Eurasian Wigeon, a few Green-winged Teal, 1 Common Goldeneye and 2
Lesser Scaup. On the lake, the flock of Lesser Scaup numbers well over
200; also, more goldeneye and several Common Merganser were seen.

On the Promontory, best birding was at the top of the hill at the south
edge of the park where we were entertained by a mixed flock with both
kinglets, Black-capped Chickadee, Bewick's Wren, Spotted Towhee and a
Downy Woodpecker. The Townsend's Warbler reported last weekend was a
no-show, however. Anna's Hummingbird were seen at the point as well as
other wooded spots.

Below Kite Hill a Fox Sparrow put in a reluctant appearance but the
House Finches and Yellow-rumped Warblers (Audubon's) were more
cooperative. And in the meadow near Frog Pond, we worked hard to glimpse
a skulking Lincoln's Sparrow. The only raptors for the day were two
adult (perched) and one juvenile (fly-over) Bald Eagles and a very brief
view of an accipiter being mobbed then chased off by a crow.

Best of the day were several nice views of 5 Western Meadowlark at the
wetland ponds. Fun day, fun people and cooperative weather.
