After reading about all the re vireos heard and seen at surrounding areas I decided to look at appropriate habitats along the Columbia River. A few days ago while on Bachelor Island I heard what I thought was a red-eyed vireo on the Carty Unit, Ridgefield NWR. This afternoon I went to the Carty Unit along Lake River where there is a nice stand of cottonwoods where I had heard the bird earlier. I did hear and viewed 1-2 birds I am not sure if I saw a bird twice or if there were two. The distance between the two was considerable. The birds were singing a lot.

To reach this site cross the footbridge and continue straight to Lake River then head north and continue through a wooded area, you will be on a two track road, into another long pasture and it is there I discovered the birds.
