Hi, After going out this morning to the rather intense buzzing of honey bees in the top of my Hawthorne trees, I am beginning to think I have a natural bee hive somewhere on my property, or very nearby. If on my place it is safe, altho I don't want to run into it by mistake, and if on my mean neighbors land, he will destroy it. Can anyone tell me how to find this hive? I have been trying to follow bees, but cannot seem to locate where they are going, as there are so many. Sometimes I think they are in my Cotoneaster bed in the front, but that is fairly low to the ground. If I could just get a good idea when to watch for where they go, sunrise. when they come out? Or evenings?
We just got back from San Diego, where I did not have any time to bird, or take photos, altho I did try. The great thing is I had a 6 year old companion, who was relentless when she found out what I was doing, and got her Grandma's binos out, and followed me everywhere. I was not even allowed to take a break. I think she is hooked on birds, she wants a book and binoculars, and "can I PLEASE get a camera like hers Grandma?" Was too cute. Fortunately she knows even less than I do about photography, so I was able to talk to her some about it, and she picked it up really fast.
