On the way out of Stephenson Canyon Park in Bremerton this afternoon I heard
a Western Scrub-Jay (WESJ) calling. Tuned in my bins on it to discover it
was a juvenile, first juvy I'd ever seen. It was making quite a racket and
was soon joined in its tree by two adult birds. I didn't see the adults
feeding it, and in fact the juvy tried to chase them out of the tree in
which s/he was perched.

The WESJs in my neighborhood have been making themselves scarce recently,
which makes me wonder if they've got a brood somewhere they're tending to.
