Sherry and I went up to Paradise and hiked the Skyline Trail today. We started out by heading up the Golden Gate side and hiked the Upper Skyline Trail up and around over to Panarama Point and back down to Paradise. The trail is 95% covered in snow still, and only in the higher areas were there patches of trail. All the lower trails are covered, which should make for another great wildflower year. Some of the wildlife seen today were;
FOX SPARROW - 1
AMERICAN PIPIT - lots
GRAY-CROWNED ROSY FINCH - 7
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE - 1
WHITE-TAILED PTARMIGAN - 1 (just past the top of Golden Gate in an exposed patch of heather)
HOARY MARMOT - 16
MOUNTAIN GOAT - 2
On a side note, we had a mama fox with 3 kits along the road just before you get to the picnic area on the way in, and another fox in Paradise Valley when we left.
