Hello Tweeters,
As always,I am always late to report, hope you will forgive me,It is not easy
to taken care of a house and yard to manage. And than I had visitor friends
today, what I did not saw for a while ,since I do going birdying.I stayed 8
days in Wenas camping,I also went to Wenatche for the WOS Convention, partly
for the presenting a check for the first person to get a check ,for the
Patrick Sullivan Fund for a YOUNG BIRDER.

Two weeks ago I birdied with Carol Riddell where she introduced me to the
pipestone Canyon, outside of Whinthrop. We had quite few birds there, and I
decided to making another trip up there, combined with the Loomis to Toats
Coulee Road to Long Swamp
Loren and I left as early 6.00 AM on Wednesday, over Snowqualmie Pass ,than
over Blewett R 97 bypass Wenatchee to Pateros, Turning left what is R153 in
to Whinthrop on R 20.We stopped at the Sun Mountain Lodge, but it was to late
in the day for the Blue Grouse, here are the birds we saw:
Chipping Sparrows, House Wren, Brewers Black Birds, watching this birds taken
turns going to feed the young.Black headed Grosbeaks, Swallows
flying all over the place, Warbling Vireo, Dark Eyed Junco, and many Cedar
Waxwings. Loren and I where tired ,so we went to Whinthrop and see if I
can find the Pipestone Canyon out side of Whinthrop. We stopped at the Sewage
Ponds on the way up,but it was closed this time.I standing out side with my
Scope what I can see where Mallards with young, Common Golden Eye and 6
Canada Geese,We missed the Redhead Ducks and the 3 pair of Wood Ducks all
had young .
Off to the top Canyon, is kind of hard to describe ,since we came from Sun
Mountain Lodge You don't get in to Whinthrop but on Lester Road for 2.4
miles the pavement ends you turn right on a ununsigned dirt Road , coming
to Campbell lake, We had also there few Duck Species, some Coots with young
one, lot's of Redwing Blackbirds and as many than 30 Cedar Waxwings,1
Meadowlark and Willow Flycatcher ,Barn, Violet and Rough-winged Swallows. We
drove to the Canyon ,as we parked ,a car came and we decided going in to the
Canyon, I was concerned leaving all our gear in the car ,since this
people was not going anywhere. After a little Walk we decided calling it a
day and going to camp. The heat was in the 90ties and it makes you so week.On
our way back we had a Osprey over the lake ,and two Eastern Kingbirds.
Thursday we got up as early as 6.00 AM feeling more rested , so we decided
to driving over the other side of Okanagon Thurs. Loomis.Getting ready There
was a car coming with high speed, leaving all dust behind, going higher up the
canyon. An other car followed , the same high speed , as we driving out of
the canyon we seeing 6 Raccoons laying dead on the road freshly killed with
a gun ,this was so upsetting to see that this place is not so save,There
going up to kill what ever there run in to.Outside of Twisp two miles
another bad find was a lone YELLOW BELLIED SAPSUCKER
laid on the street dead, this bird was quite intact and was not seems a road
kill. This is only the third sighting for me in this state of this
species. There not often found. We decided stopping at Cameron Lake Road who
the birdying is most of the time good.We stopped at the first Pine trees
getting out of the car ,we can hear birds already. Here we running in to
Brian Bell and his group, Who give us the tip seeing a Gray Flycatcher on a
nest,The group was there earlier at 6.00 AM and the birdying where good.It
was now about 10.00 AM.Here we had a big Variety of birds
Western Wood-Pewee, Hammond Flycatcher, Dusky Flycatcher,Gray Flycatcher
(not on nest)Say's Phoebe,Western Kingbird,Red-tailed Hawk,Turkey
Vulture,Red-breasted Nuthatch, White -breasted Nuthatch.Winter Wren,Mountain
Bluebird,A. Robin, Again allot of Cedar Waxwing.
Orange-crowned Warbler,Yellow -rumped Warbler,Spotted Towhee,Dark Eyed
Junco,Black-headed Grosbeak (male
