On our way to Loomis Toats Coulee Rd. to Long Swamp,Best bird here where a
Red naped Supsucker, watching this bird for a long time .
Mountain Bluebirds,Hamond's Flycatchers,again a lot of Cedar
Waxwings, getting hot and the birds where not active.
Long Swamp ad a lot of Starlings ,and we went on a way to finding the
Woodpeckers .but I had no idea that the big fire destroyed so much of the
forest ,I remember seeing this Fire fighting on TV where 7 people died
quite few years back, but seeing this much milage destroyed was enormous to
see.I did not see that any one ever posted this on Tweeters ,we drove over
an hour and there was no end to the destruction so far you can see.,a
complete dead forest. It was so silent you can hear a pin drops,We decided to
return to Long Swamp and taken our lost on the time we spend there.
On our way down to Loomis at the Toots Coulee Rd we found 2 Lewis
Woodpeckers on the same old tree trunk as in previous years, this was a nice
bird to find, driving up we did not found this species, there where nothing
than Starlings.
The heat by now was over 90 degree and we gotten so tired driving so long
on the miles .Spectacle Lake had some group of Canada Geese and a group of 8
Common Goleneye.I remember on previous year when Patrick and I explored
this area ,we had lot;s of Red necked Grebes with there young on the
backs. This is pretty late to going to this area first and second week in
June is the best time. All the fields also on this side where plowed ,NO
Bobolink ,it was to late here to find ,This area in Washington around Loomis
is known for one of the most area to find this species.
We parted company here seeing another OSPREY on the Lake.
I was off to Snow Park where I camped overnight hearing the Great Gray
calling, coming to the conclusion that the Owl was killing a prey.I heard
something similar with a Great Horned Owl in Ferry Canyon one year.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
