Bill, great description, sounds like a wonderful sight to have seen. Just want to add, I live about a mile north of the Edmonds dock and have occasionally (not by any means frequently) in the last year seen groups of 3 (4, once) GB Herons flying inland from the beach several blocks, to a large clump of evergreen trees a couple of streets NE of us. In the evenings. That's a far cry from the size of flock that you saw. Thanks for sharing the sighting.
