This is a pretty belated response to a message posted several days ago but I
have to compliment the fine pictures. I've developed a fascination with the
foxes at Mount Rainier. I know that they are making a nuisance of
themselves, becoming beggars and all... but they are beautiful animals. I
think, having read what's been written about these boreal foxes, I
appreciate them all the more knowing that they have a certain right to these
subalpine environments by virtue of having survived there for millennia. I
find the lowland foxes attractive as well but they are not really Washington
natives, so their appeal is tarnished, in my mind. I look into the eyes of
the high elevation foxes and I see survival instincts and timeless wisdom,
of sorts. I think it may be O.K. that they beg for chicken scraps.
