Subject: [Tweeters] Union Gap to Lake Janus - 16 July 2010

This morning I hiked up to Union Gap and over to Lake Janus. Highlights
included both Red-naped and Red-breasted Sapsuckers (pure birds!), Chipping
& Lincoln's Sparrows, and at least two Pine Grosbeaks. Below is the
complete list for the Snohomish County portion:

Union Gap to Lake Janus, 08:00-12:00

Barrow's Goldeneye - 9, female with brood of eight on Lake Janus
Sooty Grouse - 5
Osprey - 1
Spotted Sandpiper - 6
Vaux's Swift - 10
Rufous Hummingbird - 6
hummingbird sp. - 2, presumably RUHU
Red-naped Sapsucker - pure male, close views for five minutes
Red-breasted Sapsucker - pure adult also seen well, red extending evenly
across nape, fully across the face, and fully onto the breast with no dark
bib
sapsucker sp. - 1, heard
Hairy Woodpecker - 1
Northern Flicker - 5
Olive-sided Flycatcher - 1
Gray Jay - 6
Chestnut-backed Chickadee - 4
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 8
Brown Creeper - 1
Winter Wren - 7
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 11
Hermit Thrush - 30
American Robin - 16
Varied Thrush - 18
Townsend's Warbler - 6
Chipping Sparrow - 2
Lincoln's Sparrow - 4
Oregon Junco - 23
Pine Grosbeak - 2, including one close singing russet-colored bird
Pine Siskin - 5
Evening Grosbeak - 3
