I like what Richard Carlson has to say. It gets you out to new areas an you don't know what you will see. It is nice to see the rarity and have someone there to backup your ID. I had this happen on a trip. Saw a bird that has around 10 records in the US. Sat around for a while and got to see it. Then lo and behold another one shows up. There was a pair of the birds not just one. They were together for only a few seconds but there was no doubt waht they were. And someone else saw it too. It is always fun to be one of a handfull of people in the country to see something like that.
