Since Shorebird habitat is quite scarce in Pierce County, I was quite thrilled to see that the "ponds" out in front of Sportco along 20th Street in Fife looking to be a prime candidate for decent habitat.



Tracey Norris and I spent about an hour there scanning the mud at 10:30AM. Shorebirds included:



Killdeer - 15

Spotted Sandpiper - 1

Greater Yellowlegs - 2

Lesser Yellowlegs - 1

SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER - 1

Western Sandpiper - 31

Least Sandpiper - 21



They all looked to be adults, the Semisand was a nice surprise.
