Just got back from some mid afternoon observation at the Montlake fill.
Tons of swallows, mostly violet green, and lots of Vaux's swifts.
Pretty sparse on most others but two highlights - a dowitcher (I am
calling it short billed) in with a half dozen least sandpipers and
numerous killdeer on the southwest muddy area on the Main Pond - and a
Virginia rail briefly seen by Carp Pond. Very few ducks until a flock
of 22 mallards flew in - all plumages represented. And spectacular
sunshine...
