Subject: [Tweeters] A Bobwhite in My Back Yard?????

Hi Tweets

Swainson's Thrush has an agitation-call which can sometimes sound quite
similar to Northern Bobwhite, a real problem where there have been
introductions of bobwhite. But the quail seems to have the purer call where
Swainson's Thrush seems to have more flute/vibrato in its call. If I had to
verbalise it, it would be something like:

Bobwhite: 'Per-Whiiite!' or 'Whiite!' (pure whistle)
Swainson's Thrush: 'Quaiite!" or 'Graiite!' (fluted)

God, that looks ghastly, but there is a difference. Hope that helps.
