Ed Pullen and I birded ocean shores yesterday. Shorebird

numbers were good with a species count of 17 with 2 other

very likely. The female King Eider was seen on the rocks as

others have described. Most pipers were worn adults, with

3 juv. lesser and 2 juv. greater yellowlegs.

Two birds remain as most likelys. One semi-palmated sand-

piper, a very dark individual with a complete short collar and

clear belly, appeared to be a juv. and a molting adult Baird's

right bill and head shape, but flew before primary extension

could be noted. We started on the beach and proceeded to Tonquin ending at Bill's spit.
