Hi Tweeters,

On my way to the University this morning I decided to walk through the
Montlake Fill (UBNA). The mud on Shoveler's Pond had the resident Killdeer,
as well as the Lesser Yellowlegs and 2 Least Sandpipers that had been
reported previously. There was also a shorebird that I was having trouble
identifying, until folks with scopes showed up. Together we determined that
the dark legs, the short, straight and blunt bill, and the lack of any
rufous coloring all pointed towards a Semipalmated Sandpiper. Unfortunately
none of us had a camera, but we were fairly confident in the ID after
staring for a while.
