I've been reading the messages about purple martins not using their boxes up
north, so was very happy to see the proliferation of purple martins at the
Boston Harbor Marina near Olympia today. There were at least 12 or so using
various types of wooden boxes and a couple nesting under the eaves of the
building where the kayaks are rented, perching on sailboat masts and wires
overhead, or swooping around the bay. A very enjoyable sight on a beautiful
late afternoon.
