The fruit trees along this road (1 mile) in Cinebar bloomed profusely,
but all the blossoms were rained and/or blown off during a particularly
harsh storm one day. Other early blooming shrubs and flowers lost buds
and blossoms in the same way. So I attributed the absence of bees on my
property to the lack of flowers at that crucial time--or maybe to the
constant rain.

Other wild shrubs and wild flowers are blooming now, however--including
dandelions and buttercups which I always leave for the birds,etc--and I
am seeing a few bees. Also, there have been at least four hummingbirds
hanging around my house the last few weeks even though I have no
hummingbird feeders, so I presume they are finding the blossoms they
need somewhere nearby.

I have not seen the Waxwings again, but I hear them when I walk along the
forest edge. I do see an abundance of white butterflys, the kind that
nibble on the leaves, so I keep hoping some bird will come along that
eats them!
