Hi Tweets,

It was a morning (7-31-10) for fleece, with a temperature hovering
around 50, a breeze and low clouds. I had to check the Marsh three
times before I found any peeps other than Killdeer. Then they
started showing up so we added Least, Western and Spotted Sandpipers
and the first Semi-palmated Plover of 2010. Two Virginia Rails were
also visible through a scope across the Marsh on the far shore of
Willow Creek. At the waterfront two Purple Martins were at the
gourds, an Osprey was perched on top of the triple pilings, and about
twelve Rhinoceros Auklets were close to the ferry slip. A Caspian
Tern flew over the Willow Creek Hatchery and young Cedar Waxwings
were working the berries are the end of the Point Edwards public
path. Of interest was the absence of Red-winged Blackbirds.
