I got this reply from Joseph Buchanan at DFW, regarding the banded knot I photographed at Bottle Beach on May 12.

The banded Red Knot you saw at Bottle Beach was captured and marked near Guerrero Negro, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Researchers there have been marking knots since late 2006. We have been searching for marked knots pretty intensively the last 4 springs and have now seen over 200 birds that were marked in Mexico. We have not seen that bird in our searches for marked knots. About 750 knots were marked in Mexico (by Roberto Carmona) through the recent winter; my guess is that #435 was marked in 2008 or 2009. We have been searching for these birds to generate a population estimate of the number of knots that use Grays Harbor and Willapa Bay as a spring stopover.

If I hear more, I will let you know.
