Yes, the pictures that I saw this morning coming thru on the news wire were horrific of pelicans sitting on the beach soaked in oil. It was heartbreaking to look at. BP has just paid out $10.5 billion in dividends to its shareholders and spent $50 million for a television ad campaign to "manage their image" while they are paying the fisherman $12.00/hour to clean up the coast. BP's efforts to clean up the spill have been minimal on their part.

As upsetting as the whole mess is, I think it's important for everyone to see these images and never forget what BP has done/is doing to the Gulf Coast. Keep in mind that this will happen again and again if we the people don't speak out and demand more protection for the environment and the future of this place we call home. We need to send a strong message to those who will lead and get rid of those who will use this as political fodder.

This is happening in my home state, by the way, and it's more painful than I can ever begin to tell you. I've watched gas and oil companies and politicians destroy the coastal marshes of Louisiana for decades and this incident brings it all home, in a most catastrophic way!

Thanks for posting this link, Bud. Cindy would ask that you not get me started.

I received this URL today and was pretty shocked by the images.

I hesitated to forward it on to Tweeters but finally decided that it is so very important that we all know what is really going on in the Gulf of Mexico and to clearly see how it is impacting the birds that we love so much.

However, I have to warn you all that these photographs are excruciating. Please delete them if you would rather not see some terrible but real images.

And let me apologize ahead of time as these are truly upsetting pictures.
