Subject: [Tweeters] Crows/Jays depressing local birds?

Tweets,

We've noticed a dramatic drop-off in yard birds this year, and we've also
had a pair of crows successfully raise a kid in the back yard as well as a
very prolific family of Steller's Jays (mostly in the FRONT yard, but really
all over the place).

I wonder if the two things are connected. Would the presence of relatively
large, aggressive corvids breeding in our yard incline smaller passerines to
go elsewhere? The adorable bushtit nest we had was destroyed - I suspect one
of the corvids of doing the deed. Not that there's anything we can really do
about it, but maybe try to chase off the crows next year if they start
building another nest.

I miss my nuthatches!
