ah ... Gene and I went and explored Conboy Lake NWR ... just walked
the mowed/plowed path behind the HQ ... two highlights --- one was my
first Pygmy Nuthatch ... cute little guy ... the other was a pair of
Sandhill Cranes ... they were "talking" (???) to each other and the
sound just echoed off the trees !!!! ... it was fantastic ...

on the NEGATIVE side ... we came home with 8 ticks ... enough to
deter us from visiting again soon ...
