The gallery below includes photos from my most recent trip to Malhuer NWR from May 24-29.
They are having a very late and very wet spring, which means the fields are still flooded around Burns, and there is an abundance of water throughout Malhuer NWR. So, you get curlews, avocets, stilts, and cranes around Burns, as well as all the wildlife in Malhuer. The only thing missing was the yellow-headed blackbirds displaying on the fence posts. They were simply too cold, and are all hunkered down trying to keep warm.
Enjoy.
