Since folks are discussing tanager occurrences, here are some recent
sightings from in and around the TriCities.

One second-year bird was banded at the Wallula MAPS station on 6/3.

Also on 6/3, 2 tanagers were seen on a Breeding Bird Survey on the Arid
Lands Ecology Reserve (part of the Hanford Reach National Monument) in
recovering (from fire) native grasslands. Odd place for them to be.

One apparent female was seen on Bateman Island (Richland) on 6/5

Yesterday, 6/7 there was an adult male on Bateman Island and another one was
at McNary National Wildlife Refuge HQ in Burbank.

The late date in our database is June 11.

Numbers were not particularly high or low during the usual migration time
frames but they are being seen in small numbers later than we normally see
them.
