Hi Tweeters,

Sorry I couldn't post this earlier than this evening, but 2 days ago
(the evening of Tue, Jun 8th), while?doing seabird research with?WDFW,
our crew spotted a Manx Shearwater about 4 miles NNW of Protection
Island, in the eastern end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.? It was seen
at 7:50 pm, at 48?11.11' N x 122?52.01'W.

We followed it for a while, as it flew east, toward the sound.

Several Manx Shearwaters have been seen along the Washington coast in
the last few years, but to my knowledge this is the furthest into the
Strait that one has been spotted.

I don't know what the chances are that it's still in the area, but
keep your eyes open!
