Dear Tweeters,

I been hearing that the response in the Gulf is woefully inadequate. Volunteers are being turned away. Convicts are being used to clean up the beaches and collect dead and injured wildlife, but they have no interest in what they are doing and spend most of the time standing around. BP is using convicts because they can control them and their access to the media. Only highly visible areas are being cleaned, but most areas are not. Booms have not even been placed in major critical areas used by wildlife. Concerned citizens are being threatened with arrest for trying to help the wildlife. The rescue centers are in a state of chaos. BP will not let workers, volunteer or otherwise, take any pictures because they do not want anyone to see how bad things really are.

Martyn Stewart is in the Gulf and has created a documentary. Please see http://soundofcritters.com/archives/1152

I feel absolutely sick about what has happened. We need to insist that those in power do everything possible to clean up the mess and prevent this from ever happening again.
