Turkey vultures are settled down for the most part by now, at least
those that are nesting. The non-nesting birds are in evidence,
however, so we can enjoy their lovely flights and soaring. Following
are reports for Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia for May of 2010:

01 -- 1 at the RR ponds in south Cle Elum; 1 near Catherine Creek on
Coyote Wall; 1 at the River S Unit, Ridgefield NWR; 1 soaring sw over
Littlerock; 3 at Eugene, Oregon; 20 at Fern Ridge, Oregon
02 -- 1 at the Englishman River Estuary, Parksville, B.C.; 1 south of
Kalama; 2 at Dike Road; 3 at Coburg, 2 east of Junction City, 13 in
kettle east of Harrisburg, 8 near Shedd, 6 west of Lebanon, 3 at
Willamette NWR, 5 north of Salem, 4 west of Silverton, 1 in Portland,
all in Oregon
03 -- 1 at McClane's Creek Trail; 1 over Burlington
04 -- 1 at Shelley Road, Parksville, B.C.
05 -- 1 trying to find a thermal north of Carnation
07 -- 8-10 kettling over the Skokomish Indian Reservation
08 -- 1 at the River S Unit, Ridgefield NWR; 1 over Glacial Heritage
09 -- 1 at Kreger Lake; 1 at Buttertubs Marsh, Nanaimo, B.C.; 4 at
Preston; 1 over Glacial Heritage
11 -- 2 circling over Littlerock; 2 over Swofford Ponds; 1 at the
Cowlitz Wildlife Area; 1 at the Peters Road flood plain ponds; 4 at
Mt. Adams Veneer Mill Pond south of Randle
13 -- 2 at Schaefer Boom Road; 2 on the Brady Loop Road; 2 on Hwy.8
14 -- 1 at Capital State Forest
15 -- 1 on Delphi Road near Olympia feeding on a deer carcass with a
crow; 1 nne of Rainier
17 -- ca. 50 at the Leavenworth Bird Festival
24 -- 1 at Lake Chelan State Park
25 -- 1 at Nanoose Bay, B.C.; 1 over Sedro Woolley
27 -- 2 at the Nisqually River overlook
30 -- 1 at the Legacy Marsh, Lantzville, B.C.

Thanks for your reports and hope you keep looking up. Young will be
fledging before too long.
