Hi All,

While heading out of the marina at Mariner?s Cove on Whidbey Island
yesterday, I saw more Kingfishers than I have ever seen in one place at the
same time. I counted at least 8 hanging out on pilings, docks and trees
right next to the water, and they were all very close to one another. I?m
assuming it was a mated pair with their fledglings in tow, but unfortunately
I wasn?t able to spend any time observing them to see their interactions.
It did beg the question though, what do you call a flock of kingfishers?

Although it?s not bird related, after leaving the marina I had a great
experience with a gray whale. I wrote about it in my blog if you are
interested:

Happy Birding!
