Subject: Aenas V Rd Bobolink, post WOS conference

Hi Tweeters,
If memory serves some other poor soul was Bobolink searching in the pouring rain in the recent past, I don't think they got great views. I was very lucky and got pushed down the road by a car behind me. Along the way looking for a turnaround spot I saw a male Bobolink on a post. It was still there on the return trip and I got crippling views as Gina Sheridan likes to call it of him. I watched him sing a quiet version of his song twice and shake off a layer of water once before traffic forced me to move on. This road is more heavily traveled than a person might expect. The rain has me hunkered at Prospector Inn in Republic bringing back memories of that WOS conference. Republic is lousy with Evening Grosbeaks right now. Nashville Warbler singing outside the room to counteract the grosbeak racket.

The WOS conference was much fun, thanks to the organizers and the field trip leaders. Biggest highlights for me included a Moose in sage country on the Sat Waterville Plateau trip, scope views of Poorwill and Ruffed Grouse on Sunday, and the entire Burch Mt trip on Monday. Itwas fun to be back in Wenatchee and look at Burch Mt and think I was there.

Hoping for some blue sky tomorrow...

Kathy
