Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 17. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 12 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was seen a mile east of Burns.

Although most birds are now back on their territories a few individuals are
still on the move. WHIMBRELS, SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and
a WESTERN SANDPIPER were seen along the coast during the week.

Ten WESTERN KINGBIRDS were near Cape Blanco June 13 and another was along
Bethel Mountain Road north of there. A SAGE THRASHER was along Bethel
Mountain Road June 12. On June 13 a LARK SPARROW was near Langlois. A
MOCKINGBIRD was seen June 11 at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. On June 13 a
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Cape Meares Village. A group of 18 WHITE
PELICANS were on the Columbia River east of Astoria June 13.

Up to 26 WHITE PELICANS are now in the Portland/Vancouver area. On June 13 a
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD was at the Vanport Wetlands in North Portland. A pair
of displaying CLARK?S GREBES are now at the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest
Grove. One WHITE PELICAN is still being seen there. On June 14 three BLACK
SWIFTS were over Tualatin. A MOCKINGBIRD was seen June 15 at Finley NWR. Two
FORSTER?S TERNS, a GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL, and a couple of GREAT EGRETS were
seen June 13 at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

Several CANYON WRENS and some WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS were at the mouth of the
Deschutes River June 9. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH and two CATBIRDS were seen
during the week along the Little Deschutes River near Crescent. On June 10 a
CLARK?S GREBE was on Hatfield Lake near Bend. That day a LEAST FLYCATCHER
and two CATBIRDS were at Fields. A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was there the next
day.
