At 2:50 pm on Wednesday, June 17 a solitary Turkey vulture circled over our
home 7 miles SE of Port Townsend at a very low altitude ? less than 50 feet
up. If passed below our home at about 20 feet up and 100 feet away so that
I got a good look down on its back. Noticed a small white patch on the right
side of the upper tail feathers. It appeared to land briefly beyond a low
stand of alders then was up again, circling away to the SE.
