Tweeters and Inlanders,

Tina and I spent a couple of very wet days birding in Pend Oreille County.
The cold rain suppressed the birds and kept us under cover. After two days
of being cold and wet we decided to forgo exploring up to Salmo Pass and
instead headed to Garfield County and the Blue Mountains to dry out. We
found some really nice birds in both counties.

Pend Oreille County 6/16 & 6/17

. Bullocks Oriole - 6/17 - West Side Calispell Road near north of
Kirchan Road

. Olive-Sided Flycatcher - 6/17 - Bennett Road east of Calispell
Lake

. Pacific Slope Flycatcher - 6/17 -- Bennett Road east of Calispell
Lake

. California Quail - 6/17 - in Newport near the High School

Garfield County 6/18 & 6/19

. Tree Swallow - 6/18 - a pair on the wires above a next box at the
intersection of Sweeny Gulch Road the and the grade that goes down to Pataha
Creek Road.

. Veery - 6/18 - Pataha Creek

. Hammonds Flycatcher - 6/18 - on FR4016 as it hits the crest coming
up from Pataha Creek.

. Probable Western Screech Owl - 6/18 - Alder Thicket Campground.
Heard only. It woke us up with its ping-pong ball call. The habitat was
very wrong. It must have worked its way up the ridge from one of the
creeks.

. American White Pelican - 6/19 - one at Willow Bar

Good Birding !

Rick
