Yes - I saw a fulvous whistling duck at Juanita Bay (King County) once.
Actually dropped my birding guide into the water I was so excited :D
Obviously unreportable as I had no camera and no-one was around. But I've
seen a lot of them in Mexico and knew what I was looking at - Teresa

Subject: [Tweeters] Mockingbird question



I remember a question on this site a week or so ago about someone siting a
Mockingbird and wondering if they should believe the report or not. I think
you should believe the person. Everyone who birds at one time or another
sees something that is out of place and if you aren't an expert you question
what you see. I saw a Mockingbird here in Lewis County a couple of months
ago. But it was just a quick glance so I didn't report it. It was one of
those unsubstantiated sightings. I have also seen a Black-throated Blue
Warbler here in Centralia. But no one else was here to see it. A friend and
I saw a female Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher over near Natchesce a couple years ago.
The biggest sighting I can't substantiate for the state list would be my
sighting of a pair of Fulvous Whistling Ducks back in 1978 or 1979. But I
know I saw them just the same. The point of this is check what you see but
there are a lot of more rarities than people think there are. Document the
best you can. Then put it on your list
